maggie’s doodles

Maggie posts some great doodles, and she’s also just really nice and kind! I love her posts where she does the song lyrics! I loved her doodlemas series, and I really love this post!

Inside Miriam’s Mind

Miriam does some great blogging! I love how she did her blogmas centered on Christ and how she shared a bible verse and a prayer prompt every day!! I love her blog design for Christmas! I like that she did this hot cocoa recipe post on her blog; I made it and it was so good! Also, go check this post out!

Merry Christmas!

Hello, and Merry Christmas! How’s your day going? I’m good! I woke up around four with some of my siblings, then we opened presents at six, and…yeah; I’m just having a great day! Hope you are too!

Our Christmas tree! πŸŽ„

So, again, Merry Christmas, and an early Happy New Years! See you on Wednesday! I hope you have a great day! Bye!

Christmas/Winter Aesthetic ❄

Another aesthetic!! Hi, welcome or welcome back to my blog, Books and Hooks! I’ve made a few aesthetics in the past, (you can see them here if you want!) I love making these; they are so fun to make and find pictures for!!

I hope to make one for a new book I’m writing with my sister soon, too! But for today, I’ll be making one for winter and Christmas, since the first day of winter was yesterday!! Like with my other aesthetics, I found all the pictures on Pixabay! Okay, here it is!

I hope you liked it! I’ll see you guys on Saturday (Christmas!)!! Hope you have an amazing day! Bye! ❀

This or That: Christmas Edition

Hello! Since it’s only ONE WEEK until Christmas, I decided to do a Christmas-y this or that! Heidi made this up, here’s hers, make sure to go check it out! Thank you for letting me do it!! Okay, well here it is!

Fake Christmas tree or real Christmas tree?

I like that real Christmas trees are really nice because it’s fun going out and finding one, and because I love the smell! But I like that fake ones are cheaper, require less work, and they don’t shed as much needles. Overall, I think that I like fake trees better.πŸŽ„

White lights or colored lights?

I like white lights better because they just look so magical!

Ugly Christmas sweater or cute Christmas sweater?

I like cute Christmas sweaters better! πŸ’–

Candy canes or gingerbread cookies?

I love both of these, but I might have to go with candy canes, because I love basically anything minty!

Star or Angel? (On top of the tree)

I love both! We have a star, but I wouldn’t mind which one we have! ⭐

Hot Chocolate or Eggnog?

I don’t think I’ve ever really had eggnog, so I guess hot chocolate!!

Wrapping Paper or Gift Bags?

Okay, so if it means which one looks nicer, I’d choose wrapping paper. But if it’s between which one I like to use better, I’d have to go with gift bags! I am horrible at wrapping gifts.

Christmas Music or Christmas Movies?

I don’t like watching movies that much, so I would probably choose music! There are a lot of good Christmas movies though!

Festive Dress or Festive Sweater?

Probably a sweater. I don’t really like wearing dresses that much.

Christmas Music Before or After Thanksgiving?

I like to wait until at least after Thanksgiving to start listening to Christmas music! πŸ˜ƒ

Decorate Before or After Thanksgiving?

Open Presents Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

We’ve never opened them on Christmas Eve, so I’ll probably go with Christmas day!

Hot Coffee or Hot Chocolate?

I don’t like to drink coffee, so I’ll have to go with hot cocoa!! β˜•

Decorating a Gingerbread House or Cookies?

I love how gingerbread houses look, but I like to decorate cookies better! Making gingerbread houses is still fun though!!

White Elephant or Secret Santa?

Probably Secret Santa!

I hope you like this post!! Have an awesome day! I’ll see you guys in my next post on Wednesday, which will hopefully be a winter aesthetic, or a Christmas poem! Okay, have a great rest of your weekend!!

Ten Of My Favorite Books I Read In 2021 πŸ“šβ€

Hi, happy Wednesday!

If you’ve been following me for a while (or if you just saw my blog name, lol) you probably know that I like books! I’ve read 92 books this year, even though I only set out to read 52!

Anyways, I thought that, because it’s almost the end of the year, I’d tell you my favorite books I read this year.

When I first had this idea, I quickly thought better of it. How would I pick only my favorites?! I loved so many of the books I’ve read this year!!!

And because of that, I decided to only choose 10! This is going to be such a challenge, but it’s going to be fun to look through all the books I’ve read! I’m also going to count each series as one book, because I couldn’t just pick one book in that series!!!

My favorite books of 2021!

The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah

Genre: historical fiction

This book!!!! There are so many words to describe it: awesome, amazing, lovely, shocking, heartbreaking…so many! I absolutely LOVED this historical fiction book set during WW2! It was so amazing and heartbreaking…I would definitely recommend it. (There are so many great quotes too.)

β€œSome stories don’t have happy endings. Even love stories. Maybe especially love stories.”

— Kristen Hannah, The Nightingale

By Your Side by Kasie West

Genre: contemporary/romance/YA

This was the first Kasie West book I read, and now, she’s one of my favorite authors! This was a sweet, cute contemporary romance, with also some drama! It’s probably one of my favorites of her’s! Love it!

β€œIt was hard to remember what I’d been so scared of. Being treated differently? Lack of acceptance? I was the one who hadn’t accepted myself for who I was. I was the one who needed to be comfortable in my own skin. I hoped I could do that moving forward.”

— Kasie West, By Your Side

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Genre: historical fiction/YA

I took so long to read this book, but I don’t know why! It’s absolutely amazing, not to mention sad and heartbreaking! I really loved the narrating of this book; it was really different and unusual, but I liked it! It’s another WW2 historical fiction, and there’s also a movie about it!

β€œThe only thing worse than a boy who hates you: a boy that loves you.”

— Markus Zusak, The Book Thief

Lovely War by Julie Berry

Genre: historical fiction/YA

This is another historical fiction, this one set during WW1 and WW2. It’s an amazing story following two sweet romances! My sister and I even got my mom to read it, and she loved it! You should definitely read it!

β€œIf music stops, and art ceases, and beauty fades, what have we then?”

— Julie Berry, Lovely War

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, and Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han

Genre: contemporary/ romance/YA

This series is soooo great! I loved them so much, that I stayed up until four one night reading one of them! They were all three amazing! I think that because it was a series and not just a standalone novel, I liked them even more, because I went through a lot with all of the characters!

You might have heard of the movies, which are on Netflix, too! I haven’t watched them (because my family doesn’t have Netflix), but I hope to watch them sometime!

β€œLove is scary: it changes; it can go away. That’s the part of the risk. I don’t want to be scared anymore.”

— Jenny Han, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

β€œPeople come in and out of your life. For a time they are your world; they are everything. And then one day they’re not.”

— Jenny Han, P.S. I Still Love You

β€œI guess that’s part of growing up, too–saying goodbye to the things you used to love.”

— Jenny Han, Always and Forever, Lara Jean

The Shadow of the Bear and Black as Night by Regina Doman

Genre: YA/ Christian fiction/fairy tale retellings

I really liked these ones! The first was a really good retelling of the fairy tale “Snow White and Rose Red”, and the second is “Snow White” I think. I found the characters really relatable and the story very compelling. They’re also both great Catholic books.

“Every once in a while you just have to decide to do something very crazy and very right–just to dare yourself to live. I don’t mean doing something stupid and destructive–just something fun and good and beautiful.”

— Regina Doman, The Shadow of the Bear

“Skin white as snow, hair black as night.”

— Regina Doman, Black as Night

P.S. I Like You by Kasie West

Genre: YA/contemporary/romance

Another Kasie West book! (I just love her books!) This one was definitely one of my favorites of hers. It’s just so sweet and nice!!! Loved it!

“People easily accept things that they want to be true.”

— Kasie West, P.S. I Like You

A Curse so Dark and Lonely, A Heart So Fierce and Broken, and A Vow So Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer

Genre: YA/romance/fantasy

I loved this fantasy series! (Even though my sister hyped it up so much!) They were all three amazing, full of realistic and flawed characters, a story that makes you want to continue reading, and plot twists! I have a book review for the first one here!

β€œI am always surprised to discover that when the world seems darkest, there exists the greatest opportunity for light.”

— Brigid Kemmerer, A Curse So Dark and Lonely

“Ah, yes, the most dangerous person at the party is the girl sitting alone with a book.”

— Brigid Kemmerer, A Heart So Fierce and Broken

“I will come back to you.”

— Brigid Kemmerer, A Vow So Bold and Deadly

Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon

Genre: contemporary/ romance/ YA

This was such good book, although the ending…….😒😒😒 I like when a book has a meaning, and this one definitely does, although I can’t really say because it’ll spoil the end! I read Nicola Yoon’s other books, and I loved them too, although they didn’t quiet make it to the top!

“Given enough time, all love stories turn into heartbreak stories.”

— Nicola Yoon, Instructions for Dancing

All this Time by Mikki Daughtry and Rachael Lippincott

Genre: contemporary/YA

THIS BOOK! I had so many different feeling while reading this: happiness, confusion, sadness, more happiness, DEFINITELY more confusion, HEARTBREAK!!! It was an emotional ride! But I ended up loving this book! I got my sister to read it, and she likes it too!

“Everything’s the same. It’s me that’s different.”

All this Time by Mikki Daughtry and Rachael Lippincott, All This Time

πŸ“š πŸ“š πŸ“š

Okay, I hope you liked this little mini review for each little book! I definitely read a lot of great books during 2021, but these are the ten that made it to the top! I would (definitely) recommend any of these books!!!

See you on my next post on Saturday!!!

Christmas Cookies/Treats My Family’s Making This Year

Hello! I know this post is kind of late: I had a very busy day!! (A good kind of busy, though!) I hope your Saturday is going well too! In this post, I’m going to tell you guys all the cookies and treats my family is planning on making this Christmas!

This is the classic Christmas cookie! I love these, but I know there are a lot of people who don’t. I know that my little siblings mainly like cutting them out and decorating them!!

I don’t really think of these as a Christmas cookie, but my brother really wanted them, and they are good!

Rice Crispies

I absolutely LOVE these, especially if they’re homemade! So yummy!!!

I love these too! They’re one of my favorite cookies: they’re just so buttery and delicious!!

I made these a few times, and they’re really fun! I love the taste too: they kind of remind me of crunchy marshmallows like in Lucky Charm cereal! Also, you can do different colors in the piping bag, so this time, I think we’re going to do red and green! πŸ˜€

Snowball Cookies

I had these for the first time last year, and I really liked them! (By now, you’ve probably noticed I like most of these!!πŸ˜…)

Thin Mints

These were my pick! I really like the ones from the store, although I haven’t made homemade ones yet. They look pretty easy though!

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Yum! I like that these aren’t just sweet, and that they are also crunchy!

Ritz Cookies

Like the previous cookies, I like that these are kind of salty too! But last year my sister and I made these and when we melted the chocolate and it was a mess! But they were good so…

Peppermint Bark

This isn’t one of the treats we planned on making, but it just sounds so fun and it’s really good! I hope I can make these!!!

I hope you liked this post, even though it is kind of short and simple. I can’t believe it’s only two weeks until Christmas!!

What treats are you making this year? What’s your favorite Christmas cookie? I’d love to know in the comments!! ☺

My Christmas Decorations

Hi! I’m so glad you’re reading this today, because I’m going to be showing you guys some of my Christmas decorations!!!

I did a whole bunch of decorating on Sunday, and with the help of some of my siblings, I got all of the decorations out! We still haven’t put our tree out yet, but I’ll show you some of the other decor!!! πŸŽ„

The Pictures! βπŸŽ„βπŸŽ„βπŸŽ„βπŸŽ„

On our tv stand, we have a little nativity set and a little kit that made this display with the houses, which my siblings and I drew and painted last year!

Then, on one of the windowsills, we have a few little Christmas trees, and a little snowman, which my sister set up!
On our school table, we have a bigger nativity scene and a little Christmas tree! My little siblings arranged all the little animals inside, and we always wait until Christmas or Christmas Eve to but baby Jesus in the manger!
Here’s a better picture of the nativity scene!
Over our chalkboard, we have a big festive bow!
I know that it might be kind of hard to tell what it is, but it’s a kind of twine with tiny Christmas tree clothespins on them. We’re going to put all of out Christmas cards on them!
On another windowsill, we have a whole bunch of little wooden Christmas trees, as well as a small nativity set!
On our table, we have yet another nativity scene, this one with just white glass pieces! We also put an angel back there, and that clear Christmas tree on the right!
Then, I have this sign hanging on my door! I love the blue colors!!
In my room, at the corner of my collage, I have one of my little Christmas tree ornament decorations!
I even have this little Christmas bear on my shelf!
This isn’t really a decoration, but I wanted to share this little calendar I made with you guys! One night, I was just bored and started to make this! (I know it’s not the neatest, I didn’t have a ruler or anything!)

πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„

Okay, well that’s all! I can’t believe it’s less than three weeks until Christmas! I hope we can get our tree up soon!

I hope you are having a good day, and I’ll see you on Saturday!!! Byeee!

Christmas Joy Tag

Hello everyone! I know it’s Monday, and I usually post on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but I thought I would do an extra Monday post, because so many people hate Mondays, and I thought this would give some people some…joy!!! Hope you like it! β™‘

Since it’s almost Christmas, I decided to create a Christmas tag/nomination! I hope you like it! Also, this is my first time making one of these, so I don’t know if it’s that good or if anyone else will really do it, but I thought it would be fun!

  • Thank whoever nominated you and add links to their blog and the creator’s blog
  • Answer the questions and you can add a few of your own if you want
  • Nominate anyone, or leave it at an open nomination
  • Spread the Christmas joy! ❀

  • Do you have any holiday traditions?
  • What’s your favorite part of Christmas?
  • What’s your favorite Christmas cookie?
  • What’s your favorite Christmas song?
  • What’s your favorite Christmas film?
  • What’s your favorite Christmas memory?

My answers!

1: Do you have any holiday traditions? My siblings and I get up really early (usually around four) and just go to the living room and talk about Christmas and stuff. Our parents made a rule that we couldn’t wake them up until five, so we always have to wait for a while before opening presents and everything.

2: What’s your favorite part of Christmas? I like spending time with family, and the whole story of the first Christmas.

3: What’s your favorite Christmas cookie? I don’t know if I can choose!! Gingerbread are always the classic cookies, but I also really love those snowball cookies and the peppermint ones!

4: What’s your favorite Christmas song?

I really like Silent Night, as well as The First Noel! They’re both such beautiful songs.

5: What’s your favorite Christmas film?

There are a lot, and I know I can’t pick only one! I like It’s a Wonderful Life, and even though I used to think it was boring, I like it now! I also like The Christmas Project, Christmas Carol, and Elf.

6: What’s your favorite Christmas memory?

I don’t really know if there is just one. I have so many! Every Christmas is such an beautiful time!

πŸŽ„ ⭐ πŸŽ„ ⭐ πŸŽ„ ⭐ πŸŽ„ ⭐ πŸŽ„ ⭐ πŸŽ„ ⭐ πŸŽ„ ⭐ πŸŽ„ ⭐ πŸŽ„ ⭐ πŸŽ„

So, if you want to do this, you can. This is my first time making one of these nomination things, so I don’t know if it’s good or not. But, I hope you have a good day!! Just less than three weeks until Christmas!!! 😁

Books I Want to Finish Before the New Year

Hi! Welcome (or welcome back) to my blog!!! Today I’m going to be sharing with you guys all of the books I want to finish before 2022! Well, let’s just get right into it!

The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien

I read the first Lord of the Rings book (The Fellowship of the Ring) last month, in October! It took me a while to read, but I really liked it! I’m currently reading The Two Towers, and before 2022, I want to try to finish the second and read the third!

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

The Hobbit is a companion novel to the Lord of the Rings series. I am wanting to read it after I finish The Return of the King!

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I already read The Book Thief back in February, but I want to re-read it! I remember being so sad at the ending. Also, last time I read it, I took a long time to finish it, so there are a lot of parts I can’t really remember, so I want to read it again this year!

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

I want to read this book this Christmas. I remember listening to this book before, but I don’t really remember it much. I have watched the movie before, so I know the story. But after reading A Tale of Two Cities, I really liked Charles Dicken’s writing, so I want to try and read this book this Christmas!!!

Messenger and Son by Lois Lowry

I read both The Giver and Gathering Blue this year, so I want to finish the quartet this year by reading both Messenger and Son. I really like these books. They are all so different, but great. I’m really hoping to at least read one of them in 2021.

This was my first year keeping track of all the books I’ve read, and my goal was to read 52 books. I really underestimated how much I read, because I’ve read 86 books already! I am now aiming to read at least 90 books before the end of December.

I think that I can do it because I only have four more books to read then, but I am probably going to have a busy month in December with getting ready for Christmas, and maybe visiting family.

Anyways, I hope you’re having a great weekend so far!!! Have an awesome day! Bye!!! Thanks for reading.
