– Maggie’s questions –

What’s the last blog post idea you had?

The last blog post idea I had was doing a series about the book I’m currently writing once I finish the first draft! Is that something y’all would like to see? I would post probably every day for a week, with different posts relating to the contemporary novel!

What are your top 5 favorite desserts?

My favorite is definitely ice cream, but my other four are cheesecake (homemade especially!!), ice cream cake, brownies, and s’mores!!

Where would you love to travel?

Paris!

What’s the last app you used on your phone?

I actually don’t have a phone. I just use one of the computers I share with my siblings a lot, and my sister sometimes lets me use her phone too. I am currently using the WordPress app!

Do you like collecting stickers?

Not really.

If you could receive one present right now, what would you like for someone to give you?

Hmmm…there’s not really anything that I really need. Maybe some Coboo yarn, because I’ve really been wanting to crochet a top with it, and I don’t have any on hand right now. Or more Kasie West books!

Coffee or tea?

Tea!!

Favorite animal to see at the zoo?

I like seeing all of them, but the elephants and giraffes are some of my favorites!

How long into the future do you see yourself blogging?

I hope to continue blogging through highschool, maybe also when I’m older, but I say highschool because I don’t know if I’ll have the time if I go to college and everything.

  1. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever gotten?
  2. Why did you start your blog?

Five YA Book Cliches (Part Two!)

Hello, happy Monday!!! I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! ☺

So, around the time I first started my blog, I wrote a post called “Five YA Book Cliches” and I’ve been meaning to do a part two for a while, but never really got around to writing it until now. Thank you to Sophia, who gave me some great ideas for this part two!!!

.β€’Β° ✿ Β°β€’.

#1: Grinning crookedly

I can think of soooo many books with this, where someone (usually the male love interest) “grins crookedly”. Like, what does that even mean? How can someone grin crookedly??

#2: Dreams with meanings

It’s either the main character has a dream that literally solves the whole problem (a lot of the time, they don’t notice this until later), or where the dream has a lot of meaning. I don’t know about y’all, but my dreams are so random and weird and they don’t make any sense at all.

#3: Expressive eyes/faces

It’s always where the main character is like “I can see the look of hope in his eyes”, “She smiles, but I can see the fear in her eyes”, or “The child’s face is pulled together in a look of worry”. This one’s not that annoying, because people can usually see emotions displayed in people’s eyes, but this happens in these books *all the time*.

#4: Looking in the mirror

This usually happens when the main character gets all dressed up and looks in the mirror and says something like “I don’t recognize the girl staring back at me through the mirror”. It annoys me a lot because it’s in so many books, it seems! (A lot of fantasy and dystopian, I think.)

#5: “I hear something in their voice”

This is one that’s similar to the third. It’s when the narrator is like “I hear an emotion in their voice, but choose to ignore it” or “I can clearly hear the distress in her words”. Like the one about the eyes, this isn’t that bad, but it just happens so much!

Β°β€’. ✿ .β€’Β°

Okay, thanks for reading! How many of these are in your current read? Do you have any more to add to the list? Did you enjoy today’s post? I’d love to chat in the comments!

Thanks again to Sophia for giving me a lot of these ideas! Everyone should go check out her blog because she has a lot of really fun posts!

I hope everyone has a great day and week and I’ll see y’all in a week! 😊

Monthly Wrap-Up: April 2022

Hey! 😊 Sorry, guys, that I haven’t been posting regularly! Things have been kind of crazy, but I’m going to try to post more consistently in May!

Books I read

Saint Gianna: Her Life of Joy and Heroic Sacrifice by Giuliana Pelucchi. I bought this book because I wanted to learn more about this saint! The book was pretty well-written, though it did get a bit boring at certain points. (I feel like this is the case for a lot of biographies.) I definitely did learn more about this heroic saint through this book! I rated it 4.75/5 stars.

St. Maria Goretti in Garments All Red by Godfrey Poage. This is another saint biography. My sister found it at a thrift store, bought it, and read it. I decided to read it, then. I think that Saint Maria Goretti was such a brave person, and this book was also written really well. 4.5/5 stars.

I Am Margaret by Corinna Turner. My cousin recommended this book, so I decided to get it. I loved it! There were only a few things that I didn’t like, such as the unusual font, but I got used to it as I read. Another thing about it that made me not enjoy it as much as I would have, is the fact that my cousin was hyping it up a lot. I still rated it 5/5 stars, though!

The Case For Easter by Lee Strobel. I watched the movie”The Case For Christ” a while ago, so I decided to pick this book up before Easter. It definitely gave a lot of great evidence of Jesus’s death and resurrection. I would recommend it to anyone! 5/5 stars.

Twelve Years as a Slave by Solomon Thompson. This was another autobiography I was assigned to read for my English class. I found the details very descriptive, and it was written very well. 5/5 stars!

Echo by Pam MuΓ±oz Ryan. I started this book a little while ago and then stopped reading it. I picked it up again and finished it in a few days. I absolutely loved it! It’s a few different stories in one book, following one harmonica as it transforms three different children’s lives. I also loved the ending, because it just tied everything together nicely! I’m thinking about doing a full book review for this book! I gave it 5/5 stars!

Writing updates

I did not get much writing done this month. I feel like I’ve been busier with school and soccer, but I’m going to try and get more writing done in May! I’m just going to try to focus on one of my books, the contemporary one!

Crochet

I got a good amount of crochet done this month! I even posted a pattern for Easter bunny keychains! I’m running out of yarn now, though!!!! I might do a yarn haul soon!

Running

I actually reached my goals this month! I aimed to run 20 miles, and I did *exactly* that!
